Zuotong ZT9142 Bright Red 2K Basecoat is a two-component acrylic polyurethane solid color paint developed for automotive refinishing, vehicle body repair and full vehicle repainting.

Although commonly described in the market as a “2K basecoat,” ZT9142 is a direct-gloss solid color topcoat system. After mixing with the matching ZTH828 series hardener and ZK301 series thinner, it can be sprayed directly to form a bright red finished surface without requiring an additional clear coat under normal direct-gloss applications.

The coating system combines acrylic polyurethane resin technology with an HDI trimer hardener system. It is designed to provide strong weather resistance, good mechanical durability, stable gloss and a rich bright-red appearance for passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, repair panels and color mixing applications.

ZT9142 is suitable for body shops, automotive paint distributors, color mixing centers and vehicle refurbishment operations that require a stable 2K solid color paint system with seasonal hardener and thinner options.

ZT9142 can be sprayed as a direct-gloss solid color system. For standard applications, there is no need to apply an additional clear coat, helping body shops simplify the coating process and reduce labor, material consumption and turnaround time.

The cured coating film provides good weather resistance, mechanical strength and chemical stability. It is suitable for vehicles exposed to sunlight, rain, humidity, windblown dust and changing outdoor temperatures.

ZT9142 delivers a vivid bright-red finish with good coverage and controlled film build. With 2–3 thin coats, painters can achieve a full, uniform color surface with a recommended dry film thickness of 40–60 μm.

The ZTH828 hardener series and ZK301 thinner series allow the coating system to adapt to low-, normal- and high-temperature workshop conditions.

ZT9142 should be sprayed over a properly prepared primer surfacer surface.

• Sand the primer surfacer with P600–P1000 sandpaper
• Remove sanding dust with a tack cloth
• Ensure the surface is clean, dry and free from oil, wax or silicone contamination
• For plastic parts, apply plastic primer before the color coat

Mix by volume:

= 2 : 1 : 0.2–0.4

Recommended mixing sequence:

ZT9142 Paint
→ Stir thoroughly
→ Add selected ZTH828 Hardener
→ Mix evenly
→ Add selected ZK301 Thinner
→ Mix again
→ Filter before spraying

Stir the paint thoroughly before color mixing or application to ensure pigment uniformity and repeatable color performance.

At 25°C:

Only mix the amount required for the immediate job. Do not reuse mixed material after the stated pot life.

After the final coat, allow the painted surface to stand for 15–20 minutes before bake drying if a bake booth is available.
