This guide explains where JLTL T38 is best used, how to prepare ordinary steel, how to mix the filler at 100:2 by weight, and when a BPO-based alloy filler may be a better choice.
It is written for bodyshop technicians, distributors and industrial repair users who need to avoid substrate-selection and mixing mistakes. Product pricing, package sizes, MOQ and OEM service belong in Version A.
The product uses a yellow CHPO curing agent with a 100:2 mixing ratio by weight.
Before starting, confirm the substrate, the correct yellow CHPO hardener, the 100:2 weight ratio and the applicable TDS/SDS version.
Primary use: non-structural filling and leveling on properly prepared ordinary steel.
It should not be selected as an aluminum or alloy specialist filler because its adhesion on alloy substrates is insufficient for applications requiring dedicated alloy adhesion.

| Bulk procurement | MOQ 1 Ton for customized orders |
For bodyshops, contractors and industrial users consuming filler frequently, material cost is an important purchasing factor.
T38 focuses on essential filling and leveling performance without positioning itself as a specialized high-performance alloy filler.
This makes it suitable for buyers looking to control material costs in conventional repair projects.
T38 is particularly suitable for ordinary steel and iron surfaces.
Typical automotive applications include:
T38 uses a yellow CHPO curing system.
Compared with typical BPO polyester fillers, the curing and drying process is relatively slower. For certain applications, this provides a more forgiving working period for:
Actual curing time depends on temperature, filler thickness, hardener ratio and application conditions.
For conventional steel-panel repair, where an economical polyester filler is required.
Dent Repair → Surface Cleaning → T38 Application → Sanding → Primer/Surfacer → Basecoat → Clearcoat
T38 can be used for selected conventional metal products and fabricated components.
Examples include:
For selected machinery and equipment surface defects where filling and leveling are required before subsequent coating.
Suitable examples include:
Suitable for selected non-structural surface repair applications involving:
T38 can be considered for selected dry wood applications such as:
A small-area compatibility test is recommended before large-scale use.

T38 : Yellow CHPO Hardener = 100 : 2 by Weight
For example:
100g filler + 2g hardener
or
500g filler + 10g hardener
or
1kg filler + 20g hardener
Mix completely until the curing agent is evenly distributed throughout the filler.
Do not arbitrarily increase the hardener dosage to accelerate curing. Changes to the recommended ratio can affect working time and curing behavior.
Remove:
The substrate should be clean, dry and mechanically suitable for filler application.
For metal repair, mechanically remove weak material and create an appropriate surface profile.
Mix the filler and yellow CHPO hardener at:
100 : 2 by weight
Use a putty knife or scraper.
For deeper repairs, build the required profile through controlled layers rather than applying excessive thickness in one pass.
Allow the material to cure adequately before sanding.
Because T38 is a CHPO system, its curing speed is generally slower than typical BPO systems.
Shape the repaired surface and progressively refine the finish.
A practical sequence is:
P80–P180 → P180–P240 or finer
After sanding and cleaning, apply a suitable primer or surfacer before the subsequent paint system.
Choosing between these two filler types should be based on the customer's substrate and purchasing requirements.
| Feature | JLTL T38 CHPO | BPO Alloy Multi-Purpose Filler |
|---|---|---|
| Curing Agent | Yellow CHPO | Usually Red BPO |
| Curing Speed | Relatively Slow | Usually Faster |
| Price Level | Economy | Usually Higher |
| Primary Use | General Filling & Leveling | Multi-Substrate Repair |
| Ordinary Steel | Suitable | Suitable |
| General Metal | Suitable | Suitable |
| Alloy / Aluminum | Not Recommended | More Suitable |
| Working Characteristics | Relatively Longer Working Period | Faster Curing |
| Cost-Sensitive Projects | Strong Fit | Less Focused |
| Specialist Alloy Repair | Not Suitable | Better Choice |
If your customer mainly repairs ordinary steel, iron, general metal, machinery or construction components, T38 is the more economical option.
If the customer specifically requires aluminum/alloy adhesion or broader multi-substrate compatibility, a BPO-type alloy multi-purpose filler is more appropriate.
This product distinction can help distributors avoid selling the wrong filler for the substrate.

This allows the supplier to evaluate packaging and production requirements more accurately.
For bulk buyers, price should not be the only evaluation criterion.
When comparing polyester body fillers, buyers should consider:
For T38, the purchasing logic is straightforward:
Use an economical CHPO filler where specialized alloy adhesion is not required.
This avoids paying for performance that may not be necessary for conventional repair work.
Store T38 in a cool, dry and well-ventilated area.
Keep the container properly closed when not in use.
Avoid:
During mixing and application, use appropriate personal protective equipment and maintain suitable ventilation.
For transportation, storage and professional use, refer to the applicable SDS/MSDS and TDS.

Buyers can request the applicable documents during product evaluation and order preparation.
JLTL T38 is a CHPO-type polyester body filler. It uses a yellow curing agent and should not be confused with BPO-type alloy multi-purpose fillers.
The recommended ratio is 100 parts T38 filler to 2 parts yellow CHPO curing agent by weight.
T38 is primarily intended for buyers who need economical filling and leveling on ordinary steel and conventional metal surfaces. It generally has a lower cost position, while BPO alloy fillers are more appropriate where alloy adhesion and broader substrate compatibility are priorities.
T38 is not recommended for aluminum or alloy applications because its adhesion on alloy substrates is insufficient for specialist alloy repair.
Yes. It can be used for conventional steel automotive body panels, including dents, scratches, weld areas and surface leveling before primer and painting.
Yes. Selected machinery housings, metal equipment, construction metalwork and other conventional rigid surfaces can be considered, provided the substrate is properly prepared and compatible.
Generally, yes. The CHPO curing system has a relatively slower curing and drying profile than typical BPO systems. Actual curing speed depends on temperature, hardener ratio, film thickness and application conditions.
The customized-order MOQ is 1 ton. Available/customizable package sizes include 1kg, 2kg, 3.5kg and 4kg. Current stock is available in the 3.5kg specification.
